The overwhelming success of our five previous Gladney Cup Tournaments has given rise to our upcoming event at the internationally acclaimed Bethpage State Park on Friday, October 2, and the venerable Winged Foot Golf Club on Monday, October 5.
The 2009 Gladney Cup golf venues have a rich tradition of hosting major golf events. Winged Foot's famous West Course has been the site of 11 major tournaments including the 1997 PGA Championship and the 1984 and 1986 U.S. Open Championships. The Bethpage Black course, recently renovated by Reese Jones, hosted the U.S. Open in 2002 and again in 2009. And the East course at Winged Foot will present a true test for any Gladney Cup golfer.
Exciting activities for contestants and their spouses will be held in Manhattan and the surrounding area over The Gladney Cup weekend. These activities include a cocktail party at Tourneau TimeMachine on Saturday and All You Need is Love, a gala celebration featuring Hugh Jackman, on Sunday. A clebrity closing ceremony and dinner, with recognition of champions on each course, will held on Monday evening following tournament play.
Contestant donations range from $10,000 to $20,000 per foursome, with options to play on one or more of The Gladney Cup courses. In keeping with our policy of providing the best possible experience for our donors and to guarantee the exclusivity that this event is known for, we will limit the number of foursomes to 40 at each course.
Once again, The Gladney Cup has attracted players and corporate sponsors from across the country. Joined in a common cause to support adoption, these individuals and companies derive satisfaction from knowing that thousands of adoptive parents, children and birth mothers benefit from their participation. Together they will share in the grandeur of two U.S. Open Tillinghast courses and in the pleasure of creating bright futures for children everywhere.
