The 2005 Gladney Cup combines the love of golf with the desire to promote adoption. Foursomes from around the country will gather next May for a chance to play at one of the greatest courses in the United States as well as to financially support the non-profit Gladney Center for Adoption.

  • The 2005 Gladney Cup will be held at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland on May 2, 2005. The tournament will host 400 contestants on two courses playing two best balls per foursome, net of full handicap.

  • Congressional is the only club to have five former U.S. Presidents as its founding life members - Presidents Hoover, Wilson, Taft, Harding and Coolidge - and has hosted the U.S. Open in 1964 and 1997.

  • Spouses and family members will accompany the contestants. Over 200 volunteers will ensure that the day runs smoothly. The total number of participants, guests and volunteers will exceed 700.

  • Tournament amenities include provided caddies and marshals, tournament leaderboard with real-time electronic scoring, and trophies for first- through third-place foursomes on each course.

  • Pre-tournament activities for participants and their spouses will be held in the Washington, D.C. area on the Saturday and Sunday prior to the tournament.

  • The inaugural event in 1999 was held at Colonial Country Club. The 2001 Gladney Cup was conducted at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York. In 2003 the event returned to Colonial Country Club where it was officially named "Home of the Gladney Cup."

  • Founded more than 116 years ago, the Gladney Center for Adoption stands today as an international leader in adoption services specializing in international and domestic adoptions.

  • The Gladney Center for Adoption has placed more than 26,000 children in forever homes and assisted more than 36,000 women experiencing crisis pregnancies.

  • Proceeds from The 2005 Gladney Cup will benefit children from both domestic and international adoption programs.
