Tradition. Its counsel lies in preserving our connection to the best and most meaningful of what has gone before. Its touchstone is the unique human gift of sustaining time-honored practices for the benefit of generations to come. It is no surprise then that the Gladney Center for Adoption finds harmony of purpose with Congressional Country Club. Both Gladney and Congressional embody a long tradition founded upon the highest standards known in their fields of endeavor. And so, with The 2005 Gladney Cup, the tradition continues . . .
The overwhelming success of our three previous Gladney Cup Tournaments has given rise to our upcoming event at the internationally acclaimed Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. The Club has a rich tradition of hosting major golf events. Its highly acclaimed Blue Course has been the site of 12 major tournaments including the 1976 PGA Championship and the 1964 and 1997 U.S. Open Championships. Congressional's Gold Course, recently renovated by Arthur Hills, will also represent a strong challenge to any Gladney Cup participant.
Exciting pre-tournament activities for contestants and their spouses will be held in the Washington, D.C. area on the weekend prior to the Monday golf event. These activities include an event at historic Constitution Hall on Saturday and Gladney Cup reception on Sunday.
Contestant donations range from $3,125 per single to $12,500 per foursome on the Blue Course and $1,875 per single to $7,500 per foursome on the Gold Course. In keeping with our policy of providing the best possible experience for our donors and to guarantee the exclusivity that this event is known for, we will limit the number of foursomes to 50 at each course.
Once again, The Gladney Cup has attracted players and corporate sponsors from across the country. Joined in a common cause to support adoption, these individuals and companies derive satisfaction from knowing that thousands of adoptive parents, children and birth mothers benefit from their participation. Together they will share in the grandeur of Congressional and in the pleasure of creating bright futures for children everywhere.
